Persona Blocks LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), located in Marietta, USA, is committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("user" or "you") of the Direct VFR mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not use the App.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Effective Date" of this Privacy Policy. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the updated Privacy Policy, and you waive the right to receive specific notice of each such change or modification. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the App after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.

Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways when you use the Direct VFR App. The information we may collect includes:

Location Information: We request access or permission to track location-based information from your mobile device while you are using our App to provide core services such as flight planning based on current location, real-time navigation guidance, and recording your flight track. Location data is processed primarily on your device or sent to your Garmin device at your request for navigation. We do not store your precise historical location track on our servers, although approximate location may be part of anonymized usage data. You can change our access or permissions in your device’s settings at any time, but doing so will limit the App's core functionality.
Camera Information: We request access or permission to use your device's camera (`android.permission.CAMERA`). The camera is used solely for the purpose of; to scan QR codes for route imports. Camera access is only active when you explicitly use this feature within the App. Images or data captured via the camera for this purpose are [Explain how data is used/stored - e.g., processed locally and discarded, stored locally on your device, uploaded to our servers with your flight plan data, etc.]. We do not access your camera or photos/videos stored on your device otherwise. You can deny or revoke camera permission via your device settings, but this will disable the feature(s) requiring it.
Garmin Device & Connect Information: When you choose to send a flight plan to your Garmin device, we transmit the necessary route data (waypoints, course information) via the Garmin Connect IQ framework. When you use the App for navigation via your watch, flight activity data (track, duration, distance, etc.) is recorded by your Garmin device as a standard FIT (Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer) file within the Garmin Connect™ ecosystem. This data transfer and storage is initiated by you and governed by Garmin's privacy policy and terms. We do not directly receive or store your FIT activity files from Garmin.
Usage Data (Derivative Data): We may collect information our servers automatically collect, or through third-party analytics tools (like Google Firebase Analytics), when you access the App, such as your mobile device ID (anonymized where possible), device model and operating system, access times, diagnostic crash data, and general feature usage patterns. This data is typically aggregated and anonymized and is used solely to improve the App's performance, stability, and user experience.
Personal Data You Provide: We currently do not require account creation to use the core features of the App. If you contact us directly for support (e.g., via email), we will collect your email address and any information you voluntarily provide in your correspondence to assist you.

How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information permits us to provide and improve the Direct VFR App. Specifically, we use information collected about you via the App to:

Provide core App functionality (flight planning, log generation, navigation features).
Enable data transfer to your Garmin device as requested by you.
Facilitate the recording of flight activities within the Garmin ecosystem.
Monitor and analyze usage, bugs, and trends to improve the App's functionality and user experience.
Respond to user support requests and inquiries.
Notify you of updates to the App (if applicable).

Disclosure of Your Information

We are committed to protecting your data. We do not sell, rent, or lease your information to third parties.

We may share information we have collected about you only in the following limited situations:

With Garmin: When you explicitly use the features to send flight plans to your Garmin device or use the App for navigation resulting in FIT file creation, data is shared with Garmin via their platform as described above. This sharing is governed by Garmin's policies.
Third-Party Service Providers: We may share aggregated, anonymized usage and diagnostic data with third-party vendors who perform services for us or on our behalf, such as data analysis (e.g., Firebase Analytics) or hosting services, solely for the purpose of improving the App. These providers have limited access to data needed to perform their functions and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.
By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures appropriate for the data we handle to help protect your information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain aggregated and anonymized usage data indefinitely for analytical purposes. Any personal information provided via support requests is retained only as long as necessary to resolve the issue or as required by law.

Flight plan data created within the app is primarily stored locally on your device. To completely remove your locally stored application data:

Uninstall the Direct VFR application from your Android device. This will remove the application and its associated local data storage according to standard Android behavior.
To remove flight data synced to your Garmin device or recorded FIT activities, please manage this data directly through your Garmin device settings or the Garmin Connect™ platform according to Garmin's procedures.

Managing Your App Data

As Direct VFR primarily stores data locally, uninstalling the app is the primary method to remove its data from your device. If future versions include account features requiring server-side data storage, we will provide an in-app option to delete your account and associated server data, similar to the process described below:

Example: Permanently removing data (for future reference if accounts are added)

To completely remove your data from the platform (if applicable in future versions with accounts), navigate to settings within the app and click on an option like "Remove Account". All your associated data stored on our servers would be immediately and permanently removed.

Policy for Children

We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13 (or relevant age in other jurisdictions). The App is intended for use by licensed pilots or individuals of legal age to operate aircraft. If you become aware of any data we may have inadvertently collected from children under age 13, please contact us using the contact information provided below.
